What I just realized about legalizing marijuana

Posted by Kelly on February 8, 2009 in Adventures, My Life |

I’ll start by saying that I do, in fact, support legalizing marijuana.  But I also think it would be a good idea to legalize heroin, cocaine, and prostitution.  I do NOT support legalizing them because I think they are OK to engage in.  I want them legalized because I am SICK of people thinking that it is a CAUSE, and I’d rather have law enforcement working on other things.

Look – if you want to sit in your house with your face attached to a skull bong carved out of volcanic rock all day instead of being productive – then go nuts.  I don’t think you’re going to go crazy and rob liquor stores or become a child molester.  But let’s get two things absolutely clear:

1.  If you smoke pot every day, there is an almost 100% chance that you are a complete LOSER.  I can already hear people arguing – just save it.  I know PLENTY of people who smoke it every day, and you can count their redeeming life qualities on on hand.  A hand that had been in a lawnmower accident.

2.  Quit trying to make the Big Case for legalization.  Yes – it should be.  No – it will NOT be.  It is not politically wise to stand up and say that you think anything that seems unsavory to conservatives should be legalized.  And that’s too bad – it really is.  But that’s how it is.  Phelps got what he deserved, because if he had thought about what would have happened if he got caught smoking weed, he would have realized it would be just exactly what DID happen.

To summarize:  if you spend any time at all making a big argument for the legalization of marijuana, you need to put down the BONG, and find another cause.  It’s not harmless.  It never has been.

You should read Erich Schlosser’s book “Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market”. Very interesting reading on the integral role that government plays in sustaining black markets.

Oh Pops, you’re such a square.

actually, if it was ever going to be legalized this is one of the best times for it to happen. More and more seniors are dealing with painful illnesses, the economy needs the boost from taxes and industry growth and we have a liberal government in control.

And seriously, there are hundreds of thousands of useful people in society who use it daily and still have good morals. I’m not one of them but I know many.

Yes – that’s fine. I just don’t want to hear about what an important cause it is. It’s not.

As I sit here trying to figure out which phenotype of cannabis I should consume (I have an eighth of grand daddy purple, an eighth of platinum purple kush and 2 grams of LA Confidential), I can assure you that all “stoners” are not “losers.” Stoners invented the Macintosh. They are developers, designers, writers, directors, musicians, actors, doctors and athletes.

Marijuana is practically legal in CA (and 11 other states, including some red ones). I can walk into over 600 stores, 7 days a week and purchase as much white widow headband super diesel kush as my wallet can afford. Prescriptions are easy to come by. It’s no different than asking your Dr for a prescription of Ambien. 10 years ago I would have never believed this would be possible. Within the next 10 years it will, no doubt, be legal (21 and over) in a few states. Nevada had it on the ballot in 2006 and it lost 60 – 40. Just 4 years ago, NV was considered a red state (NV has a medical marijuana program).

I am not going to sit here and say that Marijuana doesn’t have its downside. I just know that I can function while smoking all day long. I don’t know anyone that can drink all day long and do anything but puke. The cause is the inequality in the laws. That’s what NORML is fighting for.

You’re blog is good read…but have you ever read it on….weeeeed man!!!

“count their redeeming life qualities on on hand. A hand that had been in a lawnmower accident.”

Who needs to watch Refer Madness? It’s happening right here. 100 to 1 odds you don’t know anyone who has a mangled hand from a lawnmower accident. BUT if you do…I am willing to go 200 to 1 it was from alcohol OR just being retarded.

  • I blow pot smoke in my kitten's face says:

I get your point. The pothead stereotype is there for a reason though. Same reason you see an Asian and immediately think they are good at math and science. Just because you are the exception to the rule or there are exceptions to the rule, doesn’t mean the rule doesn’t exist.
