{"id":139,"date":"2006-12-23T18:36:20","date_gmt":"2006-12-24T01:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kellybakst.com\/?p=139"},"modified":"2007-01-02T22:07:42","modified_gmt":"2007-01-03T05:07:42","slug":"courage-at-the-d-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kellybakst.com\/?p=139","title":{"rendered":"Courage at the D-Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Took Sydney to Disneyland &#8211; our Xmas\u00c2\u00a0tradition with the <a title=\"The Family\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chidachi.com\" target=\"_blank\">Chidachis<\/a> &#8211; this week.\u00c2\u00a0 Stayed in the hotel, ate at Blue Bayou and Goofy&#8217;s Kitchen (some fine fare there) and generally had a fantastic time with my favorite person in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Th eonly two rides whe hadn&#8217;t been on were the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Space Mountain.\u00c2\u00a0 I hadn&#8217;t been on Space Mountian since it was remodeled &#8211; and let me tell you &#8211; it is THE best ride there.\u00c2\u00a0 REALLY cool.\u00c2\u00a0 But entirely too fast for Sydney.\u00c2\u00a0 Thunder Mountian on the other hand, seemed perfectly fine.\u00c2\u00a0 I explained that she was tall enough (she insisted that she wasn&#8217;t) and that it was no faster really than Matterhorn &#8211; which we went on several times at her urging.\u00c2\u00a0 So after some badgering from all of us, she went.<\/p>\n<p>She loved it, of course &#8211; but it was more a lesson about confronting &#8211; even embracing &#8211; your fears.\u00c2\u00a0 I explained that she wouldn&#8217;t get hurt &#8211; that it wasn&#8217;t dangerous &#8211; so why not go?\u00c2\u00a0 She agreed, and came away &#8211; I think &#8211; with a sense that it is easy to be brave if you understand the risks involved.\u00c2\u00a0 Score one for the Daddy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Took Sydney to Disneyland &#8211; our Xmas\u00c2\u00a0tradition with the Chidachis &#8211; this week.\u00c2\u00a0 Stayed in the hotel, ate at Blue Bayou and Goofy&#8217;s Kitchen (some fine fare there) and generally had a fantastic time with my favorite person in the world.
