{"id":150,"date":"2007-03-20T22:36:59","date_gmt":"2007-03-21T05:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kellybakst.com\/?p=150"},"modified":"2007-03-20T22:36:59","modified_gmt":"2007-03-21T05:36:59","slug":"ubuntu-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kellybakst.com\/?p=150","title":{"rendered":"Ubuntu update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bottom line &#8211; I love this operating system.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s fast, stable, installed 95% perfectly, and is now running absolutely perfectly.\u00c2\u00a0 Printer works like a charm.\u00c2\u00a0 <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Syncs contacts with email all the time\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plaxo.com\">Plaxo<\/a> works with Thunderbird.\u00c2\u00a0 Firefox is wonderful (I knew that before, but you get a better taste of it when you use it exclusively).\u00c2\u00a0 What is now left for me to mess with is <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Windows apps in Linux\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winehq.com\">Wine<\/a> (the windows emulator for Linux &#8211; allows you to run Windows apps inside <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Loving it\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\">Ubuntu<\/a>) so that I can run Visio and Project &#8211; and that is only because I haven&#8217;t looked to see if there are alternatives that run natively in Linux.\u00c2\u00a0 I also need to look into one of the many alternatives to Itunes for my music and Ipod.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m roughly 1 week away from installing it on my HP laptop and bidding farewell to Windows forever.\u00c2\u00a0 I kid you not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bottom line &#8211; I love this operating system.
